Hurting books -- things like cracking spines and dog-earring pages -- makes me cry a little inside. (Gosh, I sound like a librarian.) But this, this is a new low:

This woman sounds like she ought to be institutionalized. I can see drunk college kids doing something like this, but she's a senior citizen! Are they sure she doesn't have dementia or something?
